SBS belongs to styrene thermoplastic elastomer, which is styrene butadiene styrene block copolymer, which is called thermoplastic styrene butadiene block copolymer or thermoplastic styrene butadiene rubber. The appearance of SBS is white or light yellow porous round strip or disc-shaped small particles, and the relative density is 0.92 ~ 0.95. SBS has good tensile strength, elasticity and electrical properties, small deformation, good flexion and resilience, and large surface friction. The resistance to ozone, oxygen and ultraviolet radiation is similar to that of styrene butadiene rubber, with excellent air permeability, low temperature resistance and wet skid resistance. Because the main chain contains double bonds, the aging resistance of SBS is poor. Under the condition of high-temperature air oxidation, the butadiene blocks will intersect, resulting in the increase of hardness and viscosity. SBS is soluble in benzene, toluene, dichloromethane and dichloroethane, but insoluble in water, ethanol, solvent gasoline, etc.
